Oct. 25, 2013

Spouse: Wayne Edward ARMSTRONG. Parents: Don TOMLINSON & Elaine KNICK. Child: Austin ARMSTRONG. Sibling: Tammy TOMLINSON.

Amanda Rose (Tomlinson) Armstrong, 32, of Bridgewater, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at her home after a courageous 32-month battle with cancer.

She was born in Roanoke, Va., on Jan. 17, 1981, and was a daughter of Don and Elaine (Knick) Tomlinson of Weyers Cave.

She graduated from Fort Defiance High School and then studied computer science at Blue Ridge Community College. After working successfully in several sales jobs, Amanda found a position that matched her great faith as well as her outgoing personality as a secretary at Bridgewater United Methodist Church.

On April 3, 2004, she was united in marriage to Wayne Edward Armstrong at Summit Church of the Brethren.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a 5-year-old son, Austin Armstrong of Bridgewater; a sister, Tammy Tomlinson of Hinton, as well as Tammy's son, Dylan, daughter, Saige, fiancé, Chris Maragni, and Chris' daughter, Holly; father and mother in-law, Eldon and Sandy Armstrong of Bridgewater; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Wong of Dayton and husband, Neal; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Amanda drew great joy and strength from the prayers, cards, visits, and messages of her family and friends — just as all of them were blessed by her as she shared her warmth, humor, and beautiful singing voice as a member of Summit Church-based gospel group Due North. In 2012, Amanda released a solo gospel album called "Believe."
